About us

The Association of Municipalities of Lower Žitný ostrov was established in 1998 to unite the local governments of our region and represent the interests of Lower Žitný ostrov together. Today, the association brings together 21 municipalities that believe cooperation is the foundation of progress.

The strength of our community lies in partnership. Our mayors meet regularly, exchange experience, seek shared solutions to the challenges facing their municipalities, and work together to make our region an even better, more attractive and more successful place to live.

Our goal is to strengthen our municipalities through coordinated development, support local communities, and jointly represent our interests before regional and national decision-makers. We value knowledge-sharing, mutual assistance, and initiatives that improve the lives of local people over the long term.

A central part of our mission is presenting the natural, cultural and historical values of Lower Žitný ostrov. We believe the rich heritage, traditions, events and hospitality of our municipalities are qualities of which we can rightly be proud. We therefore support developments and partnerships in tourism, cycling infrastructure and community programmes that bring visitors closer to the region and reinforce the sense of belonging among those who live here.

For us, Lower Žitný ostrov is more than a geographical area: it is our shared home. It is a community where tradition and progress go hand in hand, and where municipalities are not competitors but partners.
